Audubon South Carolina’s WINGS internship and seasonal staff program offers students and early career professionals an opportunity to explore conservation career options, gain valuable experience, and develop skills and knowledge to enrich their career pathways. Individuals will learn from managers and mentors who are eager to share their expertise, passion and insight, while being afforded the opportunity to enhance their resumes.
Internships and seasonal staff positions are offered throughout the year and include opportunities in Conservation Education, Public Policy, Coastal Bird Conservation, Land Stewardship, Communications, Cultural Heritage, and Bird Science. All positions are paid and include flexible start dates with part-time and full-time positions available.
Recognizing the strength and power that cultural and ethnical diversity brings to our mission, Audubon is committed to advancing racial equity and justice in our conservation work, and building a truly diverse, inclusive team. We strongly encourage Black, Indigenous and People of Color to apply for these and other mid and senior level positions with Audubon.
Seasonal staff and interns will be based in the Charleston office, at the Beidler Forest Center and Sanctuary just outside of Charleston in Harleyville, or the Silver Bluff Audubon Center and Sanctuary just outside of Aiken in Jackson, with opportunities to work in local communities and in the field. Check out Beidler Forest and Silver Bluff!
During their time with Audubon South Carolina, participants will enjoy an enriching experience that includes:
- Learning sessions with professional program staff leads including policy, forestry, and coastal conservation;
- Exposure to Audubon leaders in various parts of the organization to learn about different career paths;
- Networking opportunities with other South Carolina conservation organizations and leaders;
- Immersive experiences such as bird walks, bird bandings and Audubon center events; and
- Development of a presentation on their experience for Audubon staff, which can be included in one's professional portfolio.
Audubon South Carolina invites current students, recent graduates, and other interested individuals to learn more about our WINGS internship and seasonal staff program and apply for an upcoming opportunity.
